Toro Chinese
About This Spot
Stepping into Toro Chinese on Park Street, you’re greeted by a hum of warmth and familiar chatter, a calm counterbalance to the bustle of Bristol’s city centre. The space feels inviting yet unpretentious—where the focus is gently placed on sharing food that carries stories and traditions, rather than on ornate surroundings or formal dining.
The pace here moves comfortably, allowing time to savor each bite and soak in the subtle layers of spice and aroma that quietly infuse the air. It’s a place where friends gather over a steaming pot to piece together their own perfect meal from an array of bold, handcrafted flavours. Whether it’s a rich, fragrant hot pot or a bowl of noodles with a touch of fiery depth, the food encourages a sense of discovery and communal enjoyment.
Toro’s menu carries a thoughtful selection drawing from Sichuan’s famed spice heritage along with nods to other regional touches—dishes that unfold gradually, inviting you to adjust the heat and ingredients to your liking. The dining experience here is intimate, highlighted by generous portions meant for sharing and the occasional surprise of a secret recipe that makes a dish feel singular and personal.
Despite the understated interior and straightforward service, there’s a genuine hospitality that seeps through. This is a spot known to locals for its comforting reliability and the way it champions authentic flavours over flashiness. The informal yet attentive atmosphere encourages diners to slow down, lean into conversation, and discover something deliciously different in every visit.

food was pretty good! i got the chicken with ginger, similar to hainanese chicken rice and the ginger was super flavourful. but ratio of chicken to rice was a bit off, would have liked more chicken. the braised beef noodle was quite bland, but we loved the black pepper beef rice. have realised that the must get here is the 麻辣香锅 or large sharing pots instead of the ala carte items! very worth the money when shared with friends and very flavourful

The crab and mutton soup that you will not have it at other place ! It's the boss's own secret recipes ! The spicy mix dish is delicious ! Can adjust the spicy level and pick your own ingredients.

Best sichuan place in town. I always drop by this place whenever I’m in Bristol. The price is reasonable and can get a big portion.

Had a great time having dinner here. Food came piping hot and tasted hotter. Would definitely be back here again. One point to not is that they were severely understaffed. Hope that it improves on my next visit.

delicious food. however the portion is small for two people. a little bit smaller than I expected. the app ordering experience is quite poor since there are no photos with caption. quite difficult to visualize what is being serviced. the staff is quite friendly. Will give another try next time.
